About Us
Berney Elementary originally opened its doors in 1904 as a four room school house serving students up to the eighth grade. It was a modern building with electric lights and central heating, but not running water. Berney school was named for U.H. Berney who served as chairman for the school district for over 25 years. Mr. Berney donated the land for our athletic field and the bell for the bell tower which is still in use today. The current building was completed in 1979 and incorporates some of the foundations of the original building. Berney has a long standing tradition as a community school and we have many second and third generation Berney Bulldogs.
We have a caring and committed staff that go above and beyond to make sure that our students succeed. Please consider joining the PTA or volunteering in your child's classroom. Volunteer in Person is the platform we use to manage volunteer hours, you can sign up and complete your background check here. We look forward to partnering with you to make your child's educational journey a success.
