Time to Study for the Spelling Bee!

Altrusa International of Walla Walla is hosting its annual Spelling Bee for third, fourth and fifth grade students on Saturday, March 28. (Date change due to Balloon Stampede being moved to October.) The event is open to the first 100 students who return entry forms. Prizes are given to the top contestants in each grade level competition and the Bulldogs have always done well. Entry forms and word lists are available in the front office and on the district website in the A to Z section under Altrusa Spelling Bee. The deadline for applications is March 11, and you may drop them at the front office to be mailed out.

School Performance Report

School Performance Reports available for public view  School Performance Reports have been completed and are now available online http://www.wwps.org/schools/information/performance-reports . They are also available in limited quantities at all school buildings after winter break. Each district is required to provide these reports annually to give parents and community members easily understandable information on educational programs and assessment results.    Each report includes a brief statement of the mission of the school, enrollment statistics, expenditures per student for the school year, student attendance and graduation/dropout rates, historical information on the school building and an invitation to all parents and citizens to participate in school activities.  They also list district and building goals as well as highlights from the previous school year.   Each report also specifically directs the reader to the appropriate pages of the Washington State Report Card website which shows current and historical state and national assessment scores, teacher information and much more specific student demographics.

It's Hip to Clip!

Remember to watch for these pink little guys on your favorites cereals and snack boxes. For every boxtop we turn into General Mills, we receive 10 cents. All those dimes add up to some big dollars, so please support our efforts by sending boxtops to schoool with your student.  The funds earned are used to support classroom needs for all teachers and school wide technology upgrades.

The competition grows fierce for these pink Boxtops for Education. Who's classroom will bring in the most for March?

Berney school hours are 8:15 a.m.-3:00 p.m. with the cafeteria opening at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast. For their safety, please do not have students arrive before 8:00 a.m. as there is not adequate supervision outside. Remember~every Wednesday we release at 2:00 p.m.

Please be extra careful traveling to and from school. Walkers, be sure to use the cross walks and side walks.  Student drop off and pick up areas have been expanded to the front of the school and continue around the building to the west side of School Ave. The parking lot west of Berney is an "enter only" lot for staff and visitors. For safety reasons, the bus lane/car exit area is not a student drop off and pick up area.
