Welcome to Berney!

School hours are 8:15 a.m.-3:00 p.m. with the cafeteria opening at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast.

For their safety, please do not have students arrive before 8:00 a.m. as there is not adequate supervision outside. Remember~every Wednesday we release at 2:00 p.m.

Please be extra careful traveling to and from school. Walkers, be sure to use cross walks and side walks.  Student drop off and pick up areas have been expanded to the front of the school and continue around the building to the west side of School Ave. The parking lot west of Berney is now an "enter only" lot for staff and visitors. For safety reasons, the bus lane/car exit area is not a student drop off and pick up area.

Do you know?

State RCW 46.61.570 phrobits parking, stopping or standing in these specicfied locations:

  •  within 5 feet of driveways
  •  within 15 feet of fire hydrants
  •  within 20 feets of crosswalks
  •  within 30 feet of stop signs

 Also, U turns are illegal in within the city limits.

Please be aware of these traffic laws as you are dropping off and picking up your students on our campus.

 

 
 

Welcome to Berney Elementary School!

Thank you for visiting Berney Elementary School's website! We hope this will provide you with necessary information about our school, our staff, our PTA, and upcoming events. For more information, please see the calendar tab on this site or contact the front office at 527-3060. 
School begins at 8:15 and the tardy bell rings at 8:25. If your student arrives after 8:25 please have them check in with the front office before heading to class.
The character trait of month for May is cooperation, which means to work together by helping each other. We encourage you to have your child practice this trait at home as well as at school.
 Miles Club is going strong! Wear your walking or running shoes and see how many miles you can log before the end of the year. We will walk Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch times until the end of May.
Our Spring Music program highlighting our 3rd through 5th grades is scheduled for Friday, May 18th. Join us at 1:30 in the gym for a exciting show.
5th grade will take a walking trip to release their salmon on May 23rd. Please make sure your child has a lunch if they have not ordered one from the cafeteria.
Thursday, the 24th, will be the end of the year picnic for our faithful patrol 5th graders. Thanks to the Elk's club for providing them with this special treat.
Kindergarteners will visit the Fire Station on Friday, the 25th. If you'd like to volunteer to assist with this trip, please make sure that you have a WSP background check on file with us.
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, the 28th, in honor of Memorial Day. School will resume on Tuesday, the 29th.
We will release at 12:30 on Friday, June 1st, to give our teachers time to prepare end of the year report cards. Lunch will be served before students leave and busses will run 2.5 hours early on that day. 
Field Day will be June 4th. Please make sure that your student wears appropriate clothing and sunscreen on that day.
The last day of school will be Thursday, June 7th. We will release at 12:30 on that afternoon.
